Video Break Time: Parris Goebel's New Single/Music Video is FIERCE

August 14, 2016

You guys. Is there anything the 24-year-old director/choreographer/dancer extraordinaire Parris Goebel can’t do? Probably not, since she’s added “recording artist and singer” to her long list of accomplishments. Goebel just dropped her first single, “Friday,” along with a crazy/awesome dance-y music video, and it’s been on repeat allllll day long over here.

The New Zealander already made music history last year when she choreographed some of the Biebs’ music videos for “Purpose: The Movement” and they went viral in like .2 seconds. So there was no doubt in our minds that she’d eventually rock her own lyrics, too. She debuted the song this past Friday night with a live performance at Hip Hop International’s competition in Las Vegas.

Goebel told the Los Angeles Times that the idea to record music and take this next career step happened unexpectedly, while she was helping out a friend. “It just kind of sparked a light in me and inspired me to take it a bit more seriously and see if I could fuse all of my gifts and talents together to create something really special,” she says. She also revealed some details about the forthcoming full album: “I rap and sing, and I’ve co-written and co-produced a lot of the music.” #Wonderwoman

The “Friday” track is a super-fun hip-hop song and the colorful music video’s choreo is, naturally, on point. Plus, all the fun and trendy leggings, tights, socks and sleepwear featured in the looks are available to purchase through Hue here. The brand partnered with Parris for the video, and later this fall will debut an exclusive line of tights and socks branded with Parris’ logo. Check out the magic for yourself:
