Spend your Memorial Day weekend tapping with the pros!
Monica Levy | March 17, 2009
Memorial Day feels so far away, but I can already smell the hot dogs…and the tap workshops. If you’re a hard-core hoofer, do NOT miss the chance to register for the upcoming Tradition in Tap workshop, the Skip Cunningham Tap Experience, dedicated to the “tap master.”

When: Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-35. (Did you know it’s National Tap Dance Day weekend too?)

Where: Nola Studios in midtown Manhattan with a showcase at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center.

Who: Participants will be graced by the presence and knowledge of Skip Cunningham, Dr. Prince Spencer, Chloe Arnold, Ofer Ben, Avodele Casel, Melba Huber, Ted Levy, Avi Miller, Logan Miller, Yukiko “Smilie” Misumi, Lainie Munro, Prof. Robert L. Reed, Germaine Salsberg, Prof. Hank Smith and Shea Sullivan. Phew! Try getting through all those famous tap names in one breath!

What: Three different programs—two separate adult programs (ages 14+) for intermediate, advanced and professional levels, and a youth program for ages 10-13. You’ll get three days of intensive tap experience through master classes, traditional choreography taught by Cunningham, a participants showcase, tap history talks, video presentations and more related events.

Why: Because you love to tap and want to learn from the best of the best!

Head to www.TraditionInTap.org for applications and guidelines. You might be eligible for a scholarship, and group rates are also available. Don’t hesitate—there’s limited space available!
