Exciting News from ABT—and Our Former EIC

Attention aspiring ballerinas! American Ballet Theatre announced yesterday that it’s launching a new apprentice program. Six young dancers will train for 10 weeks this fall before performing with the company in its Nutcracker. They’ll also attend seminars in subjects like performance makeup and ballet company etiquette. You can find out more about the program here.

Why is this especially exciting to us here at DS? Because Kate Lydon, who until last month was our editor in chief and is currently editor at large, is one of the heads of the new program. (Kate danced with ABT for several years, and is also the ABT Studio Company’s artistic associate.) Way to go, Kate!
