Daphne Lee is a queen, and not just in the "OMG Girl Boss Alert" sense of the word. She's an actual queen—a beauty queen. Crowned Miss Black USA in August, she's been doing double duty as she continues to dance with the Memphis based dance company, Collage Dance Collective. Lee's new title has given her the means to encourage other black girls and boys to pursue their dreams, while also pursuing dreams of her own. The scholarship money awarded with the pageant title will assist her as she earns a Masters of Fine Arts degree at Hollins University.
As I'm sure you've heard by now, Pink pretty much stole the show at Sunday night's American Music Awards with the performance of her hit song, "Try." And by stole the show we mean brought the house down and knocked the socks off every person watching.
Sure, I knew she was talented. But a dancer, singer, aerialist, gymnast?! I had no idea. The performance, choreographed by RJ Durell and Nick Florez, was something I'm used to seeing on the "So You Think You Can Dance" stage—not at the AMAs. The choreo was intricate, technical and emotional. But Pink and her dance partner, Colt Prattes, made it look like a piece of cake. (Read more about the artists behind Pink's performance here.)
You're probably dying to see this stellar performance. So, without further ado, meet Pink, the dancer (singer, aerialist, gymnast, most awesome rock star ever!):
