Everything You Need to Know About #Beychella

April 15, 2018

Beyoncé became the first black woman to headline at Coachella this weekend, and people are (justifiably) freaking out over her performance. ICYMI, you can catch the entire performance here. But be warned, you’ll never be the same. 👑🐝 Here’s our list of highlights.

1. The dancing was insane.

Not only was Beyoncé on point for almost TWO HOURS STRAIGHT, but her seemingly endless supply of backup dancers (more than 150 to be exact) seriously slayed.

All jokes aside, though, it’s no small feat getting that many dancers in formation (pun definitely intended), but choreographers JaQuel Knight and Chris Grant pulled it off—and then some. Everything was so precise and so perfectly musical. The dancers were also joined by a full marching band and drumline for the set’s opening, designed to celebrate the atmosphere often found at historically black college football games and homecomings. It was epic.

2. Solange and Beyoncé had the FIERCEST sister dance party.

That’s right, Solange made a surprise appearance and it was so adorable our hearts immediately melted.

3. The whole thing prompted the BEST dancy reactions.

It wasn’t just the glowing reviews that broke the Internet afterwards (The New York Times gushed “Beyoncé Is Bigger Than Coachella” and The Guardian wrote the “greatest star of her generation writes herself into history”). Celebs, they’re just like us, and all joined in on the collective Bey worship.

Rihanna couldn’t help but dance along in the front row:
