Dear Katie,

I grip my quads, and I don't know how to stop. I'm totally overdeveloping my quad muscles. How can I retrain myself so I use my legs correctly? Help!

Dear Katie,

I love dance so much. In fact, I think I might love it TOO much. I'm completely obsessed: I spend every minute I can at the studio, and I'm even having dreams about dance class. Is that bad, or unhealthy? Am I going to burn out?

Dear Katie,

What are good cross-training exercises for dancers? I'm taking lots of dance classes, but I've heard that cross-training can bring your dancing to a different level. I just don't know where to start.

Dear Katie,

I'm a hip-hop and jazz dancer, and I want to get involved in the commercial-dance world. I've never studied ballet, but people keep telling me I "have to" take ballet classes if I want to make it professionally. Is that really true? My family has limited money for dance classes, and I have to be careful about how I spend it.

Dear Katie,

All the dancers in my level auditioned for a prestigious summer intensive—but I'm the only one who got in. Now everything is incredibly awkward at the studio. I'm really excited about the program, but I don't want to make my friends feel bad. What can I do?

Dear Katie,

I have an issue with my knees. Since they're not hyperextended at all, I feel like they constantly look a little bit bent. What can I do to improve my line?

Dear Katie,

I can't turn, and it's awful. No matter how many tips and tricks I try, I can barely pull off double pirouettes. What's wrong with me? Am I just not a "natural" turner? Is that even a real thing?

Dear Katie,

I want to dance in a ballet company, but I'm insecure about my body. I'm not skinny, and I don't think I ever will be, because that's just not the way I'm built. Please be honest with me: If I don't have the traditional ballet body, do I have a future in professional ballet?
