Renowned choreographer and dancer Blake McGrath is about to unveil a new project: a dance competition—in app form. Called Dance Diva Dance, the new game, coming later this year, will allow users to dance through various levels, picking their studio, avatar, and music, and create sequences of choreo to compete against other avatars. And once they've filled their trophy case, players will receive a ticket to a real-life exclusive event, where they'll have the opportunity to perform.
But first, the app is featuring a real-life contest for dancers, with a chance to become one of the Dance Diva Dance avatars.
From February through March, head to dancedivadance.com, download the master-class videos, learn the choreography, and upload a 30-second clip of your class. VIP judges including McGrath, WilldaBeast, Brian Friedman, and Shannon Mather will score your performance, and the top 20 finalists will become characters in the game and be featured in promotional projects at dancedivadance.com.
A version of this story appeared in the February 2018 issue of Dance Spirit with the title "A Different Kind of Dance Comp."
