Dance Network Will Stream All Dance, All the Time

July 21, 2015

Well, here’s some good news for those of us looking for dance-y ways to procrastinate (so, all of us): Dance Network, a subscription streaming service dedicated to dance programming, is launching this fall.

What does that mean, exactly? It means that come October, you’ll be able to find all kinds of dance movies and TV shows, plus original Dance Network programs, at dancenetwork.tv, and/or via your phone, tablet or Roku player.

It sounds like a dance-only Hulu, basically. Which, um, yes please!

Yup. Yup. Yup. (screenshot of dancenetwork.tv)

No word yet on which acquired films and television programs will be featured on the channel, though they’ve promised the lineup will include “classics from years past” (CENTER STAGE CENTER STAGE CENTER STAGE). Three original shows have already been announced: “Traveling Dancer,” highlighting styles from around the world; “To the Stage,” following competitive show choirs (it sounds like the reality version of “Glee”);  and “Steady Mobbin’,” about flash mobs. Color us intrigued! Just add some old-school seasons of “So You Think You Can Dance” (SEASON 3) to that mix, Dance Network, and we’ll heart you forever.

October seems like a long ways off, but a preview version of Dance Network, offering a sampling of its programming, will actually be available starting this Saturday, July 25. (Inaugurating a dance streaming channel on National Dance Day: many bonus points.) Head over to dancenetwork.tv to find out more.

And by the way—if you’re looking for immediate dance video distraction, may we suggest a little “Road to Nationals” binge session? DO IT.
