7 Fun Facts About Charlize Glass

January 15, 2018

The coolest place she’s ever performed:

I’d have to say the Super Bowl. The field was so cool, and Katy Perry was right there. And there were so many eyes—definitely the most eyes I’ve ever performed for!

Something she’s constantly working on:

My feet. I’m flat-footed, so I’m always hearing, ‘Point your toes!’ And I’m like, ‘I am!’

Signature look:

My hair! That, and a pair of leggings with a T-shirt or tank top.

Dance battle secret weapon:

My musicality. I try to listen for those beats that no one else hears, and challenge myself to hit them.

Personal soundtrack:

I’m constantly listening to Khalid right now.

Secret obsession:

I have four Persian cats: Maggie and Luke are the parents and Sammy and Zesty are the babies. (Zesty, who was born during “America’s Best Dance Crew” Season 7, is named for Charlize’s 8 Flavahz flavor, Zesty Lemon.)

“She’s obsessed with her cats,” bestie Maddie Ziegler says. “She likes them more than she likes most people!”

Best friend:

Charlize may have learned to travel without her mom while on tour with Radix Dance Convention, but she wasn’t always alone: Choreographer Brian Friedman hired Maddie Ziegler, as well as Charlize, to assist him. “We got to share hotel rooms and dance together every weekend—it was so fun!” Maddie says.

The two have become not only best friends, but also an unstoppable dance duo. “They complement each other so well, and make each other stronger dancers,” Friedman says. “Charlize’s urban groove has rubbed off on Maddie, and Maddie’s impeccable technique has rubbed off on Charlize.” According to Maddie, the long hours spent together on tour have helped them take their partnership to the next level. “We dance so well together because we just get each other,” she says. “Even though we’re different, we mix perfectly.”
