Here's Your Chance to Get Pointe Shoe Advice from Tiler Peck

April 4, 2017

Ah, pointe shoes: They are our forever frenemies. Much as we’re obsessed with them, even the most serious bunheads can have difficulty figuring them out.

That’s where The School at Steps’ Pointe Shoe Workshop and Fair comes in. Part advice panel, part shoe sale, the annual event brings together experts from all corners of the ballet world, as well as representatives from major pointe shoe brands. Whether you’re just about to start pointe or are trying to find the perfect pair before your upcoming company audition, you can get a lot out of this shindig.

This year, the professional panel features none other than New York City Ballet principal dancer/all-around rockstar Tiler Peck, who we know is very, very serious about her own pointe shoes. You’ll also hear from podiatrist Dr. John Brummer; master teacher Gretchen Gunther; pointe shoe fitter Mary Carpenter; and our good friend Amy Brandt, former dancer with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet and now Editor in Chief of Pointe. And there’ll be shoes from Capezio, Chacott, Gaynor Minden, Grishko, Repetto and Ivivva available for purchase.

All this goodness is happening Sunday, April 30 at The School at Steps in NYC. If you’re anywhere in the tri-state area, we suggest you make the trip—because you know it’s worth it to find that perfect pair.
