Get Festively Turnt Up with Josh Killacky and the #XmasIsLitChallenge

About a week ago, dancer/choreographer/Jade Chynoweth bestie Josh Killacky made a thing. Friends, that thing has won the holidays.

We're going to begin with a disclaimer: You have probably (definitely) already heard about this. But that doesn't matter. Because if you're like us, nothing's going to stop you from watching it again.

Inspired by this video by Insta star @i_got_barzz—which is a masterpiece in its own right—Killacky, Alex DiTommaso, Damien Lavergne and director David Moore got together to make a Christmas version. Naturally, very festive PJ pants were involved. And you guys: It is CLEAN.

Once their take was released into the wild, it didn't take long for it to explode, sending its singularly magnificent brand of holiday cheer out to the far corners of the internet. Like, corners even your mom might inhabit. (Or at least one fan's mom.)

That's not, thank the dance gods, the end of this story. Because the video has become not just a meme, but also a contest: The #XmasIsLitChallenge asks you to make your own version of the video. And the entries so far are, in a word, magical. Take a look at our favorites below—then go forth, ye wondrous dance elves, and make your own.

Dear Katie,

Do I need private lessons? I'm a professional-track dancer, and my teachers say that I should start scheduling privates to advance more quickly. But they're so expensive. Will I make it if I stick to group classes?
