The "Mary Poppins Returns" Trailer Is a Dance-Filled Delight

What could be more super(califragilisticexpialidocious) than a Mary Poppins sequel? How about a Mary Poppins sequel helmed by fabulous director/choreographer Rob Marshall and starring the likes of Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda?

Yup, Mary Poppins Returns is happening, friends! In fact, there's now a trailer out for the much-anticipated follow-up to the Disney classic, set to hit theaters December 18th. And from a dance perspective, the new film looks practically perfect in every way.

Mary Poppins Returns is co-choreographed by Marshall—the mastermind behind 2002's film version of Chicago, among many other things—John DeLuca, and Joey Pizzi, and the trailer gives us a peek at what appear to be some truly epic dance numbers. It looks like even 92-year-old Dick Van Dyke, one of the stars of the original film, spends some time in tap shoes, which, 🙌 🙌 🙌 .

    It's usually right around the third or fourth week of "So You Think You Can Dance" audition rounds that we start itching for the live shows. Sure, the auditions are fun, inspiring, and entertaining, but at a certain point, we reach audition saturation. (And the live shows are just so good and feature so much more Cat Deeley.)

    All that said, Nigel and co. kept things spicy this week, so our attention remained firmly glued to the screen. (It's been 16 seasons—who are we to doubt Nigel Lythgoe, sir?) Here's how it all went down.
