I got a big part in my spring recital, but I really, really don't like the guy who'll be partnering me—he's rude and gives me lots of condescending corrections. What can I do to make things less awkward?
Congratulations on your role! How exciting. But having a partner that's difficult is never fun. As hard as it is, try not to get defensive. Keeping the environment as positive as possible is important. However, having said that, don't be afraid to speak up for yourself if something isn't working on his part. You don't have to be rude back, but don't let him bully you, either. If things are getting really difficult, say something to your teacher. They can mediate the situation for you.

Say you're perpetually impeccable designer Thom Browne. Say you're planning your Spring 2020 Paris menswear show along a "Versailles country club" theme. Say you want a world-class danseur to open the show with some kind of appropriately fabulous choreography.
Who do you call? James Whiteside, of course. On Saturday, the American Ballet Theatre principal—wearing pointe shoes and a glorious pinstriped tutu—kicked off Browne's presentation at the École des Beaux-Arts with a 15-minute, show-stealing solo. Whiteside choreographed the piece himself, with the help of detailed notes from the designer.
