At the start of last night's episode, we had a Top 20—the number we thought was the goal heading into the live shows. But as we found out last week, this season, the judges actually want a Top 10. So five girls and five guys still had to go.

And last night, we started with the girls. Each of the Top 10 ladies was paired with an All Star from a past season (Lex is back! YAY!) for a duet outside their preferred style. How'd they all fare? Let's break it down.

Who's about to face this beautiful judging panel? (NBC)

It's baaaack! Season 2 of NBC's "World of Dance" will return to living rooms everywhere on May 29. Also baaaack? Well, judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, and Ne-Yo, and host Jenna Dewan, for starters. But some fan favorites from last season's stellar cast will also take to the show's stage again. And they'll be facing off against a slew of new competitors—although many of those faces will probably be familiar to dance-world folks, too.

These days, dancers are on television more than ever before. From live shows like "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars" to teen sitcoms like "Shake It Up," flip through your TV lineup and you'll see dancers in more than just music videos and award shows.

But what is it actually like to dance on TV? We caught up with Tiffany Maher from BET's hit drama series "Hit the Floor" to find out. Dance is the focal point of "Hit the Floor," which centers on the Devil Girls, dancers for the faux-NBA Los Angeles Devils. Maher (who's also a "SYTYCD" alum) took some time out between rehearsals, fittings, and catching a flight to teach at Tremaine Dance Conventions to give us the behind-the-scenes scoop—and to explain what exactly "bacting" is. Because we definitely don't know.
