Helen Rolfe graduated summa cum laude from Connecticut College with a BA in East Asian Studies (Japan concentration) and a minor in dance. Helen has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, character and modern at Virginia Ballet Theatre, Todd Rosenlieb Dance, Ballet Chicago and K-Classic Ballet Studio in Kyoto, Japan. She is also a proud alumna of the Virginia Governor's School for the Arts musical theatre department, the Rockettes Summer Intensive and Interlochen Center for the Arts.
More studio time = more improvement? Not always, according to Roman Zhurbin, American Ballet Theatre soloist and certified personal trainer. "It's absolutely necessary to take rest days so your body can reset and you stay motivated," says Zhurbin. "Seven days a week of hard training is just unhealthy." What is healthy: letting your body recover from a jam-packed dance schedule so you can give your best possible performance.
