This Is the Only Version of "Look What You Made Me Do" that We Need, TBH

August 31, 2017

I have to be honest for a second here: despite having been a diehard Swiftie ever since “Teardrops on My Guitar,” I was a little on the fence about Taylor Swift’s new single “Look What You Made Me Do.” Even her official music video—usually the brilliant, essential factor that gets me full-on obsessed with a new T-Swizzle song—didn’t exactly win me over.

If only TS had hired Kyle Hanagami to choreograph her music video: because Hanagami’s version, imho, turns the song into a flipping masterpiece. His deliciously clever gestures point out the easter eggs scattered through TSwift’s lyrics. The explosive precision he brings out of his dancers highlights the surprisingly intricate rhythms hidden in the song. But perhaps most importantly, thanks to Hanagami we get to see DS faves like Kaycee Rice, Charlize Glass, and a T-Rex absolutely slaying the combo. Don’t believe me? Watch until the end for a 110% epic duet by Hanagami and said dinosaur. (Who are you, anonymous Tyrannosaurus? Inquiring minds want to know!)
